About the Role
Arena Magazine is seeking an autonomous growth leader (manager / director level).
You will be tasked with leading the subscriber acquisition function at Arena. This includes paid subscribers, free subscribers, social media followers, and tbd project audiences.
Requirements
You will be proficient in paid marketing, specifically on social platforms — you will lead the planning, forecasting, briefing and day-to-day optimization of performance campaigns. While also being creative enough to plan and execute marketing schemes that do not scale. E.g. getting Arena stories placed in high traffic contexts.
You will have a creative mindset with the quantitative skill set to prove any given creative worked.
With the creative team at Arena, you will be responsible for crafting hundreds of different creative assets and messaging, and then iterating on them based on results.
You will be responsible for identifying and quantifying the most profitable channels, then making sure our paid media budget is optimized for those channels.
You will be responsible for developing and managing a network of partners who are invested in promoting the Arena brand.
You are a strong writer and must be able to write clear prose.
You must be able to consistently hit deadlines.
You must be willing to work independently and with the growth team to maximize reach and influence.
You must be comfortable with ambiguity, the scope of this role is subject to change to meet the needs of the business as we grow.
You are a believer that more information and transparency is better. You do not believe in the traditional, gatekeeping and agenda setting mentality of the legacy press. You know that information, regardless of source, should be judged on its merits alone.
This role will require working hard and with availability at most times during the day.
We have a strong preference for Austin, TX based, or willingness to move to Austin.
You!
Experience: At least 2-4 years of experience in growth marketing
Skills: You must be proficient with Meta ads platform, and have the ability to do in-depth cohort analysis
Fan of Arena: You already enjoy Arena! Liking the content and our vibe is going to be key to a successful role here
Self-Starter: Don’t need to be asked to do start, write, and finish stories and assignments
Attention to Detail: You sweat the small stuff
Startup: You actively want to join a startup; you abhor corporate bureaucracy
